We spent several days relaxing at each of the islands on our
way to Grenada. On June 14, we arrived in Grenada and anchored in
St. Georges Lagoon. |
|
We hung out at the yacht club, eating, drinking, checking
email or playing Mexican Train Dominoes with fellow cruisers. Here
Mike is sharing spicy wings with Tom (s/v Sojourn) and Bruce (s/v
R Phurst). |
|
|
A group of us hiked to the Seven Sisters Waterfalls.
It was a fairly easy, though sometimes muddy hike. |

|
Leslie, Jenny, Bruce, Rose, Tom and Mike enjoy a swim in the
cool, fresh water of Seven Sisters. Mike jumped off the waterfall,
but my camera battery died before I could get the picture!
Rose (s/v Sojourn) is pictured here under the Honeymoon
Waterfall. |

Bob and Marsha (soon-to-be owners of Hylas s/v Kyan)
joined us in Grenada to tour the island. They will sail with us to
Trinidad before returning to their home in Oklahoma. |
|
|
We took a tour of the island which included a stop to feed
the monkeys, a visit to the chocolate factory, the River Antoine Estate
rum distillery, and Fort Frederick. |

|
|
During our tour of Grenada we saw many beautiful buildings,
old and new.
The damage done several years ago by Hurricane Ivan is still evident
everywhere, even though the island has come a long way in its recovery and
reconstruction. |

The Friday Night Fish Fry in the fishing town of
Guyave is a very popular event. We attended all 3 Friday's that we
were in Grenada. The whole town turns into a huge block party and
the streets are lined with food stands and entertainment. |
|
|
On June 29, the Friday Fish Fry was extra special because it
was also the 200th Anniversary of the "Fishermans
Birthday". The party started early on the beach that day. |
